Greeting Blog Readers & Fellow IMC’ers!

This is my very first blog, and I’m pumped to dive in and begin sharing my thoughts on emerging media trends with you, my readers (whoever that may be!). Please feel free to comment and provide me with feedback, so that I create a blog that you actually WANT to read as well as being informative and insightful!!

I was born and raised in small town rural America. I grew up on a beef cattle operation (one of two girls) and was expected to work hard and not complain. I credit my work ethic today to being raised in that environment. After graduating from Marshall University (Go Herd!)  in 2005 with a degree in Journalism with a concentration in Public Relations I attended Bible College for a semester of personal growth, and if I’m perfectly honest, as a buffer to the “real” world.

On the job front, I worked for a brief time at an ad agency and then at a truck body and trailer manufacturer. Currently, I work for a car and commercial truck dealership handling a variety of marketing activities. My latest project is selling old car parts, along with other odds and ends on eBay. I have set-up my own little studio and am psyched to get started on this project. I’m entirely new to eBay, so it is bound to be an adventure.

All my free time is currently consumed by remodeling a 160 year old house my husband and I purchased this summer. I cannnot wait until they get the furnance installed, as it’s getting down into the high twenties at night in our neck of the woods.

Why am I blogging? I am a graduate student at West Virginia University working toward a Masters of Science in Integrated Marketing Communications. My current course, Emerging Media, requires a blog. How cool is that? No final paper, but a blog! So for the next nine weeks I will focus my blog postings on Emerging Media trends to include web sites, video ads, widgets, blogs, social networking, etc.  The blog will serve as my outlet to thoughts, ideas and how I perceive the world of new media.

I hope you’ll join me on this journey, and maybe, just maybe, along the way we’ll both learn something.
